AgRights Principles

Principle 1: We support privacy for the producer and protection of our basic constitutional rights, including property rights.

Principle 2: We support science-based guidelines generated in conjunction with veterinarians and producers over state or federal mandates on what qualifies as state-of-the-art animal husbandry and humane care. We believe in science-based management of animals and look to the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) for guidance on general standards of care.

Principle 3: We support freedom and flexibility in farming recognizing that American producers are over-regulated and threatened with lawsuits generated by too many statutes passed by too many politicians. State and Federal laws already exist that cover environmental and animal welfare issues and extreme caution should be given to additional legislation. After much consideration of input from a broad base, codes and guidelines have been developed with guidance from respected veterinarians and scientists with the AVMA and the ASAS. Under current anti-cruelty statutes, anyone who mistreats an animal faces investigation, prosecution, fines, jail time and even the loss of animal(s).

Principle 4: We support clear, simple and truthful labeling of our products to facilitate clear communication between producers and consumers. Such labeling is already regulated by the Federal Trade Commission.
